May 2026 Update

EPBC Act Approval Update

Following EPBC Approval in early 2026, the project team are working through approval condition management plans to ensure project compliance with the terms of the approval. This includes measures relating to vegetation clearing methodology, pest and weed management and native vegetation offsets for areas cleared. The approved layout has a maximum disturbance footprint of 881 hectares, a reduction of over 55% from the initial Project layout. The Project will secure 2,346 hectares of environmental offsets for 273 hectares of threatened species habitat, land that will be secured under management for environmental benefit. Clearing of vegetation during construction will be closely monitored. Fauna spotter catchers will be present on-site to detect fauna, allow fauna to self-relocate and, if necessary, relocate fauna before works can commence.

Project Early Works

Geotechnical Investigation works (Project site and Public Roads)

To further progress detailed design of the Project, geotechnical investigation works have commenced within the Project site and on sections of public roads associated with the Project. The works started on 11 May 2026 and are expected to be completed in June 2026.The geotechnical works will be occurring on Mannuem Road and Ironpot Road.

Water sourcing study

A water sourcing study has been commissioned to inform the water supply options available for the Project on site. The water sourcing investigation works are anticipated to commence at the end of May 2026 and will be conducted wholly within the Project site. A water sourcing strategy will be developed so that water used during the construction phase does not cause issues to adjacent landowners or other stakeholders. RES will continue to liaise with the local community to ensure any concerns regarding water sourcing are appropriately considered.
