Tarong West Delivers Kingaroy Dental Support

Patients across the South Burnett and Western Downs are set to benefit from improved access to dental treatment under a new donation from Tarong West Wind Farm to support equipment for Kingaroy Hospital.

Tarong West Wind Farm has committed over $15,000 to fund dental sensors and x-ray plates for use with a portable x-ray machine in the Kingaroy Hospital theatre, helping the Dental Department improve diagnosis and treatment for patients receiving care under anesthetic.

The equipment will benefit young children, people with disabilities and those who can struggle to sit still while undergoing dental treatment; and will provide better quality x-rays to help dentists diagnose and treat patients.

Tarong West Wind Farm Head of Corporate Affairs and Engagement Tanya Jackson said the donation reflected a commitment to supporting practical initiatives that make a tangible difference locally.

“We want our support in the region to be practical and useful, and this is a very clear example of that,” Ms Jackson said.

“This equipment will help the Kingaroy dental team to deliver better dental care for families in the South Burnett and Western Downs by providing a new treatment tool for patients.”

The new equipment will allow clinicians to view images directly during theatre procedures, which will support dentists to provide the best possible care to patients.

Kingaroy Hospital Dental Clinic Principal Dentist Dr Tia Riggs said the equipment would make a meaningful difference to patient care.

“The ability to take x-rays in theatre for dental cases will help minimise treatments each patient needs, which should result in less time on the waiting list; reduce the number of dental visits and provide better health outcomes for patients,” Dr Riggs said.

Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary President, Alison L Murray, welcomed the opportunity to work together with Tarong West Wind Farm for this important project, as it will result in improved dental care and more timely dental services for young children, disabled patients and patients with other health issues, who find it difficult to sit still in a chair.

“The dental equipment will help reduce the number of times a patient will need to visit the dentist, which is great news for those who travel to access medical care; and will enable our dentists to treat more patients in a week.

Patients from across the South Burnett and Western Downs will benefit from this generous donation to Kingaroy Hospital,” Ms Murray said.

Tarong West Wind Farm is being developed near Ironpot in the South Burnett. Alongside project development, the team is continuing to support community initiatives and local partnerships across the region.
